Bookkeeper

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 2+ years of bookkeeping experience in practice or industry
  • Proficiency in Xero and cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Strong knowledge of BAS, IAS, GST, and payroll compliance
  • High attention to details with proven accuracy in production work
  • Effective communicator with strong internal reporting and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and escalate issues promptly

Key Responsibilities:

Production 90%

  • Perform end-to-end bookkeeping using Xero and related applications
  • Prepare and review BAS, IAS, and GST returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Process payroll including PAYG, superannuation, leave accruals, and STP reporting
  • Manage bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
  • Produce accurate monthly/quarterly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and technical quality in all production work

Internal Team Communication & Reporting 10%

  • Provide regular progress updates and workflow reports to managers
  • Communicate production status, bottlenecks, and job completion timelines to the internal team
  • Ensure production jobs are delivered within agreed deadlines and quality standards
  • Assist in documenting procedures and improving workflow efficiency
